Today's Tale. Fat Lad Farts.

A fat lad directed a farting noise at me as he passed by and I photographed in the Schildersbuurt. He wasn't the first person to stare at me as I wandered the streets of Den Haag, camera in hand, on my search for discarded Christmas trees.

Good Art #33: Young Hare.

I stumbled on Albrecht Dürer’s Young Hare last week via an inspiring read on BBC Culture titled Why museums hide masterpieces away. Masterfully executed and dating from 1502, Young Hare is about as alive as a painting can be. Its watchful eyes mesmerise, why is it so deep in thought? I'm transfixed. Learn more about its storage issues and other problematic works by other artists in the article.

Popcorn. Pussy Power.

The Stop Tony Meow extension was one of the best things to emerge last year. It changes any photo of said joker into a photo of a kitten providing a dose of humour and a more pleasant browsing experience.

Spin. Matador.

Former Supergrass front man Gaz Coombes is back with his second solo cd Matador. It's garnering favourable reviews so far marking a maturing career development from the still blistering Caught By The Fuzz. The track I'm repeat playing is The English Ruse. Listen to the album in full on The Guardian.

Good Art #32. Underground Fantasy.

All eyes are on Mark Rothko, the blockbuster exhibition currently showing at the Gemeente Museum in Den Haag. While many visitors appeared to be wooed by his colour canvasses, I found myself yawning and far more interested in his early figurative paintings, for example, Underground Fantasy (pictured). Pinboard. London Lurker.

Lurker spent a few months in London in 2012, yes that long ago. In an effort to get up to date for the next month or so two new Lurker covers will be published on Lurker's Tumblr each day. A typically London scene above marks a new category, Wired For Sound.
