Today's Tale. God Squad.
Three friendly church ladies, each representing a different European country, came a knocking last night. Apparently the local catholic priest had sent them out saying that the people won't come to church of their own accord, you need to wrangle them in, or words to that effect given my imperfect Dutch. So knock they did. We chatted and laughed a bit, each of us with our thick non-Dutch accent, about god and stuff before I waved them on wishing them better luck at their port of call. Oddly, I had biked to Monster (a former pilgrimage site) earlier in the day to visit op shops and photograph on the beach. That's where the beauty above comes from.

Today's Tale. Fat Lad Farts.
A fat lad directed a farting noise at me as he passed by and I photographed in the Schildersbuurt. He wasn't the first person to stare at me as I wandered the streets of Den Haag, camera in hand, on my search for discarded Christmas trees.

Today's Tale. Moscow Moscow.
I was in Turku recently for my Wunderwall exhibition. Following the opening, friends new and old, were led (thanks Kenneth) to a couple of cool bars, the Thursday nighter in the gardens of the Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova Museum where an eclectic mix of tunes were played under the stars, and Dynamo where YouTube requests were queued up, so you never really know what to expect. The following night had a very different vibe, not so cool, but no less fun. I've always quite liked the theme tune Moscow by Genghis Khan for the 1980s Summer Olympics. Imagine my surprise to find a very thin, tall man singing it in either Russian or Finnish, I really wasn't sure. He rocked it, he was cool. This little snippet took place on a boat bar on the river Aura where we stopped for a beer.

Today's Tale. The Pigeon Waterer.
It was a busy and balmy summer day at Scheveningen. The strandtenten were packed with scantily clad people basking in the warm sun. Nearby a tattooed man with a large beer gut, tough-looking disposition and a long grey handlebar moustache sat with his family. He stood up suddenly and walked over to a pigeon, picked it up and let it sit in the palm of his hands. He moved gently to a tap, pigeon in palm, and let the bird lap up the cool water and splash about. He put the pigeon down, again gently, and returned to his seat and beer.

Today's Tale. DJ Stormtrooper.
It's not everyday you're treated to a Stormtrooper DJ spinning tunes in a store, a shop I knew would be an experience as soon as I saw the Geen Kringloop sign on the door. I met the owner, and for a while she followed me around speaking in both Dutch and English relaying her story of living in Ibiza. Why? I'm not sure. I don't think I've ever seen such an odd mix of furniture for sale in one spot, the leopard print speakers above give just a hint of what to expect. Some of the displays were right off the set of a Bond film or 1970s porn. Truly intriguing. Stay posted for a unique table.
