Doodler. Smokin'.

This devil-esque lady is a little surreal. The poor woman has been given a pore strip. I've always found those band-aid like strips designed to clean out your blackheads a little odd. Even more odd is this You Tube video showing you how to make your own pore strips. I wonder if she has an instructional video about how to decorate your fingernails?

Doodler. Oprah Gets A Beard.

The beard continues to be the most popular form of Doodle in the trash mags. Oprah's hirsute look is bang on trend with styled goatee and 5pm stubble seen here in New Idea.

Doodler. Choke The Bowler.

The doodle is discreet here, a Coca-Cola girl with a Hitler moustache and monocle on the back page of a 1960s National Geographic. The speech bubble reads "Choke the bowler", and I have no idea what that means.

Doodler. Nicole's Fangs.

Nicole makes a repeat performance on Doodler, this time with fangs and mono-brow. Again, the source is Woman's Day or New Idea — they're indistinguishable.

Doodler. Bindi's Beard.

New Idea and Woman's Day readers are fond of Doodling, perhaps as a way to combat the boredom of repeated celebrity gossip week in week out. I've noted that beards are popular, and here's Bindi sporting one. I'm not sure what this person had against Bindi, maybe her millions.

Doodler. Winter Mode.

An old issue of Virgin's Voyeur inflight magazine has provided treats in the past including Tokens' first post. Winter is warming up in the southern hemisphere which should see a reduction of garish board shorts on the streets. That said, guys in Newcastle seem to still wear their luridly coloured shorts on the coldest days teamed with hoodies and ugh boots to keep warm.

Doodler. Man Up.

Compared to recent Cosmo covers, this 1970s Cosmo girl is dressed like a nun in a pink head to toe outfit. Considering the number of cover lines, I'm surprised the doodler found space to add elongated eyelashes, a goatee and a moustache. Still, it's a rather fetching look.

Doodler. Bearded Fergie.

Doodlers seem to like beards, often drawing big bushy ones on the faces of beautiful women. In moments, a celebrity's stunning face can morph from drop-dead gorgeous to hideously hairy. But not all beards are bad, with some styles suiting their new owners to a T. No New Idea's cover shows Fergie with stubble, in this case clashing dreadfully with her necklace. Pass the razor.

Doodler. Smelling Good.

Rather than the simple defacement of an image, this Doodler has taken a creative approach to transform otherwise ubiquitous Issey Miyake advertisements into works of art.

Doodler. Dog.

Dog doodles are something new. This clever pooch seems to have developed a mean streak and a dumbo ear.

Doodler. Amore.

It seems apt to be listening to Groove Armada's fabulous Lovebox as I post this Doodler from an issue of Voyeur. While I'm not sure about the monobrow and goatee on the fetching model, I can say I'm quite impressed by the drawing of the little soccer playing Lego man. This found issue of Voyeur had lots of terrific drawings throughout, and you can see another one here.

Doodler. Ronald & Nancy.

Many years ago my old friend Hexx went travelling to America from where she sent me this card. Dabbling in artistry, Hexx gave Ronald a Phil Oakey do and Nancy fetching lip liner a la Hexx. Hexx's hand is evident through the Yaz badge too, with Hexx herself Yazoo's biggest fan.

Doodler. Domestic Slattern.

I'm not sure I know what a domestic slattern is, but this poor woman was used to illustrate a short piece about 'time-and-effort-saving kitchen gadgets' in an issue of Eve magazine. Some of the gadgets included a special rice cooker, and handheld liquidiser and a Chiller Jug pitcher for ice tea and Pimm's. Of all the images in this particular issue, the Doodler was only to draw on this.

Doodler. Unibrow.

I have to admit that I have a thing for monobrows. Apparently, I'm not alone so this week's Doodler is for monobrow enthusiasts everywhere.

Doodler. The Devil in Barbara.

Every now and then I find a magazine that someone else has doodled in. I wish I found them more often as I cherish the artistic creations inside. The doodler who reinterpreted this issue of New Idea gave Mrs Bush either devil horns or fox ears coupled with a Hitler moustache. I couldn't go past that for this post.

Doodler. Creative Capers.

Flipping through The Australian Women's Weekly some months ago, I was delighted to stumble on this rather artistic reworking of a Nicole Kidman portrait. It is a striking use of texta and highlighter that would do Arlene TextaQueen proud.

Doodler. Messed With Marriage.

Our doodler made their way through The Weekend Australian Magazine [3-4 April 2004] and added his or her flourish to this picture of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The original caption reads 'Mess with marriage and marriage will mess with you.' Judging by the scribe, I think this doodler was no fan of royalty.

Doodler. Hoofin' It.

I thought it might be nice to share a chuckle. I came across the July 2010 issue of Voyeur, complete with drawings made by a bored flier. While it as it the expense of a beautiful young woman, the drawing was no doubt inspired by the 'hoofing it' heading nearby. Elsewhere, a beautiful model gets a beard, there's a terrific drawing of a Lego man, and another woman gets a moustache and a nose strip - now that's random. I also liked the subtle use of eyeliner on the Tom Cruise cover. It makes Tom just that little bit more devilish.
