Spin. The Minutes.

Alison Moyet's new album The Minutes has attracted consistent four star plus reviews since its release last week. With voice in fine form, The Minutes is varied, experimental and fresh hinting at her Yazoo past while very much in the present. My hit picks are All Signs of Life, Changeling and Apple Kisses with the lead single When I Was Your Girl growing on me the more I hear it. I wish I could see this set live, her show at Ronnie Scott's last year was simply astounding.

Good Art #24. Taxi.

Thanks to my new habit, Pinterest, I have discovered the work of illustrator Ryo Takemasa. I was completely taken with the simple elegance of Taxi (pictured), though his London works are a very close second. Wonderful and whimsical, no wonder Monocle published work in their current issue.

Glossy. Agnetha.

Eurovision is only days away, so no wonder Abba fever is hotting up again. Not only has a state-of-the-art Abba museum opened in Stockholm, but Agnetha has released her new album, A. Unlike her last album My Colouring Book (highly recommended), A features new songs. The Big Issue's interview with Agnetha in this week's London issue is bound to be intriguing. Smashing cover.

Popcorn. Benidorm Bastards.

SBS has always offered a different perspective, so it's little surprise their revamped SBS 2 channel pushes the envelope. The new format is lively, engaging and fun giving viewers exciting programs to watch outside of the traditional trash on the commercial networks — complete with loud grating advertisements. I've got a long list of new shows to enjoy, with the antics of Benidorm Bastards at the top — though G Wars and If He's Not The One follow very closely behind. The successful format of Benidorm Bastards has been copied in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England and even in the USA with Betty White's Off Their Rockers. Monday nights are fun.

Glossy. Volkskrant Hits Target.

Now that I'm back in Australia, I find myself missing de Volkskrant. It's an excellent newspaper and their magazine is one of the best newspaper supplements around.

Good Art #23. Automated Colour Field.

Rebecca Baumann's Automated Colour Field is one of my favourite works at the moment — and one of those ideas you wish you had. Rebecca's clever use of flip clocks and paper is hypnotic. It's on show at the MCA at the moment and well worth repeat visits.
